OUR CODE OF ETHICS
When I accquired my rats I have run into many disappointments.
It is my full intention to become
better than any of the petshops and breeders I have encountered. Especially the rats I acquired from Pet Shops seemed to be more prone to disease, most likely caused by stressful conditions and careless breeding. My main concern will always be the well being of the babies.
I also understand my responsibility to
YOU.
Once I traveled 400 miles to pick up a black rex. When I got there he turned out to be grey and you could hardly see any waves in the fur. The nice thing was that this rat had been handled a lot and he made a great pet. My most beautiful rats came from Jazmyn at Lantana. These rats had not been handled a lot and it took them a while to 'become' pets.
It is my goal to combine these two approaches to breeding.- produce beautiful rats, raised as pets.
I've seen breeders who are convinced their grey rats are blue and I just received a 9 week old "black dumbo-looking rat" from Washington. He's cute but he's certainly not black! He's living now with my 5 week old half-dumbo, Pumpkin. Even Pumpkin has larger ears than the new rat and both rats are the same size!
I already fell in love with him nevertheless...He's dark brown-grey and has lots of freckles on his belly and around his eyes. If I had known this is how he had turned out I probably still would have looked forward to him.
It is a fact that during their developement babies do change (colors/markings/etc) but I promise to be honest and as accurate as possible about the colors and also keep you updated on any changes in appearance of YOUR chosen rat. If at any point you feel the rat deviates too much from original expectations you are under no obligation to take it.
No matter if you choose to get a rat from our rattery or any other :
Be very selective and use your head!!!
Inbreeding is not healthy!
We never inbreed siblings or parent/kitten. Inbreeding will get faster results for the breeder but it won't get you a healthier rat. We do not mass-produce and we do not sell feeders.
From my past experience on rat colors I can say:
I usually try to post pictures of the babies so you can decide yourself.
I try to describe the shadings and markings as accurate as possible, rather than label them with unjustified terms that will just leave you disappointed.

I WANT MY BABIES TO BE EVERYTHING YOU EXPECTED THEM TO BE!

Thanks
