OUR HOUSE
Welcome to Our House. We would like to introduce you to the people behind Groberspals Kennels. We are Robert and Annette Surman and we have two children Luke and Joshua, 11 and 10 years old respectively.
Our property is situated at Meadows, South Australia, between the picturesque wine regions of the Adelaide Hills and Southern Vales. We have seven acres were we live and operate boarding kennels. Rob also managers our metal distribution and laser cutting business located near Adelaide.
We have had Ridgebacks as part of our life for many years now. Our first litter was in 1980. Since then the face of ridgebacks in Australia has changed considerably. Our first ridgebacks were purchased by Rob to have as hunting companions. As time moved on he married someone who he thought would be a good kennel and stable hand. We met through exhibiting horses and at first we were so occupied with our horses the dogs just came along to guard the float. Our commitments changed and we began to show the dogs more and more, the horses were so time consuming. Ridgebacks have become our passion. We enjoy exhibiting and have done so very successfully but the most important consideration to us is breeding exceptional dogs that conform to the standard. Our dogs are family dogs and it goes without saying that temperament is of the utmost importance.
We sometimes have some fun with formal obedience training but do not compete in this area.
