| At first that website was dedicated to my first rat, Sweety ... Sweety and I met a few years ago ... his owner could not keep him anymore ... she worked in an animals'shop and I was there the day she was trying to find him a new home ... She was so afraid of him being eaten by a snake ... The first time I took him against me I felt so much tenderness ... I knew we were to live together ... He was my first rat and I had so many things to learn ... I did not know they were so sensitive to wood litter ... and I did not know that sleeping and living on it could kill them ... (they sell it in animals'shops !!!) When Sweety got sick I read as much as I could on books and on Internet, and thanks to a friend of mine, Lisa, I learnt that wood litter was highly toxic because of volatile emanations which spoil the lungs and the liver, and finally weaken them to death ... It was too late to save Sweety who was put on antibiotics which finally harmed him too ... so I decided to treat him with natural remedies such as homeopathy and it worked ... Sweety stayed with us a few more months on a rather "good" health and at the age of 2 years 1/2 he peacefully went to sleep forever in my arms ... I knew Sweety would die sooner or later and before he went away I decided to adopt two babies ... Gus and Maxou ... who were there when Sweety died and helped me a lot ... They came from an animals'shop at one month old and I had to gently tame them ... Love and patience make miracles ... I thank all my friends for being so helpful days after days, and of course my lovely family ... Stéphanie |
