Barney and Bill are my horse friends. They are black Percheron geldings and weigh approximately a ton each! They are about 17 hands tall, with Bill being a little heavier, and Barney a bit more leggy. Bill is the leader of we horses, and he is a good leader (he never bosses us around, well...he never bosses Barney around, but I get in trouble if I try eat his hay). Barney and Bill came from a nice farm where they gave people sleigh rides and they even went in parades and pulled a wedding carriage. They are 15 years old this year, (they're half brothers) so they came to live here to take 'er easy a bit. Our owners have been riding them, even though they are draft horses. They make good riding horses though; they are fun to take on the trails! Barney and Bill also have a beautiful hand made wooden cart to pull. That seems pretty fun, but I've never tried pull one. I think I would be too afraid! But Barney and Bill make it look easy.
Temperment wise, Barney reminds us all alot of my late friend Sultan (please visit his memorial page). He is very calm and tolerant and little kids can even ride him. He's outgoing and friendly and has just a little streak of the mischievious in him. He likes to play jokes on people, and he's like a huge puppy following people around. Bill is more emotional, sensitive, and spirited. He reminds me of a knight's horse from midevil times, or of a fairytale horse kings and princes would ride. He is also very bomb proof and friendly, and loves to have his mane brushed. He has very beautiful action and loves to prance and just fly when he trots! He's really a great guy. Anyway, here are some pictures we have so far...enjoy!
