Handfeeding Baby Cockatiels

I start Handfeedin at 2 Weeks of age or at 14 days of age.. Now if for some reason you need to hand feed earler here is a chart that should help you out. I use Exact Hand feeding Formula from the Pet shop. You SHOULD ALWAYS follow the directions for mixing the formula. It could meen the differance between LIFE and DEATH.

You notice that the amount of food per feeding increases as the baby gets older up till the time of FLEDGING. AT this time the bird will go on a diet so to speek. They are tring to Slim down so they can FLY. BUT do not let this fool you in to thinking that they are Weand Beacuse they are NOT. At this time you should also interduce them to alsorts of other food like Frozen Corn, Pea, Wheat Bread, Seeds, Pellets, Rice Mixs, Pasta and any other food that is SAFE for Birds. NOW remember you will have to force the bird to eat when it comes to feeding time. At 6 weeks old if you notice the bird is eating on his own then you have done a great job. A good Seed to help get your babies use to eating on there own is SPRAY MILLET. It is easyer for them to husk, and good for them. I wish you luck. I hope this can help you out too.
