Welcome...Joan's Place, In Cyberspace!

Joan passed away March 13, 2001. She was surrounded by the people who loved her and she passed away peacefully. I haven't really been able to bring myself to update this website, especially her page since that time. Now, nearly a year and a half later I am contemplating updating the site and re-opening the award program in her memory. I love her and I miss her.

My Name Is Joan!

Hello, my name is Joan! I am an English Springer Spaniel. I live in Massachusetts with my companion Heather. She's a human and loves me very much. I adopted her family when I was a pup. My brother "Bitey" wanted to adopt them, but I got to them first! I am glad because they treat me well with lots of love.

I am about 11 years old and I just had my birthday! I was born July 4th, 1988. I grew up with my family for a couple months before adopting my new family. We had a huge yard and our own little house next to my parent's companion's house. I don't remember much from my first couple of years. This is what I do know! I gave my new family a lot of love, and they were very happy to see me. I was hard to house break, and they were always afraid I would go on the rugs when they weren't home, so they put me in this huge room every time they all left. Usually somebody was home, so I never went into that room. But I grew up! Yes I did, to be a big doggy! I got into a lotta trouble back in my younger days. Dragging laundry everywhere, drinking outta the toilet, everything! Yup, those were the days.

I had the house all to myself as the only "pet" for years. Then one day, somebody came wondering into my life. She'd change my life forever! In 1994, this 3 month old kitten came wondering into my home! My family brought this new kitty home from the Animal Rescue League of Greater Boston (Dedham Branch). I went nuts! I didn't like Cindy at first. I thought my family wouldn't include me as much, or love me as much. I was really mean to her, I'll have to admit. As the months went by, I saw that nothing really changed, and my family loved me MORE than ever! Best of all I shared my birthday with Cindy. I took Cindy under my wing like she was my own pup. We groom each other and get into trouble together. She doesn't drink her water anymore, she drinks mine. I don't mind, not at all.

I do mind somethings. I know for a fact I wasn't ready to be a parent. My family and I decided neither Cindy or I were ever going to be ready to have kids. We all knew that there were too many cats and dogs being killed each day at pounds because they didn't have homes. I knew because Cindy was once was from the pound and knows how some cats go to a room and never come back! There is no excuse to have a litter of animals if you don't have the time, money, or space to support them. So click on the link below to make sure you fix your cat or dog so they don't have to go through the heart break of parting with their offspring. If they don't have the offspring in the first place, a lot of feelings and lives will be saved!
