A few out of the many species of Oxalis have proven themselves to
be weedy in some parts of the world. In fact it is generally these
weedy types that people think of when the word Oxalis is mentioned.
Many people shudder at the thought of intentionally growing the
ornamental, non-weedy, types based on their experiences with plants
from this group. Hopefully this page will show people that not all
Oxalis are weeds and encourage people to try growing some.
Generally the cultivated forms do not set seed and are not prolific
enough to become a real problem. Of course, no plants should ever be
introduced into the wild or allowed to escape from the garden
environment.
