CHALLENGE POINTS : ( Championship Shows Only).

(A) Challenge Certificates will be offered for competition for the best of each sex for each breed or variety of breed for which a separate register is kept.

(B) No exhibit under six months of age shall be allotted Challenge Certificates.

(C) Judges shall withhold Challenge Certificates in cases where dogs are not of sufficient merit.

(D) Judges shall sign a Certificate provided by the New Zealand Kennel Club that in their opinion a dog awarded a Challenge is of sufficient merit to become
Champion.

(E) The show Secretary, or an officer authorized by the Show Committee, must sign the Challenge Certificate and ensure correct details of the entry winning the Challenge Certificate are entered in the appropriate spaces on the face thereof.

(F) Award cards denoting Challenge Awards by the judge may be placed over all dogs winning same before the completion of the show.

(G) At a Championship Show a Reserve Challenge award may be made by the Judge to the runner-up to the Challenge Certificate winner if he is of the opinion that the runner-up is of sufficient merit to warrant such an award. In the event in such a case, of the Challenge Certificate winner being disqualified, the Reserve Award winner will automatically receive the Challenge Certificate.

(H) No dogs or bitch refused a Challenge for whatever reason shall be permitted to compete for Best or Reserve of Breed breed but may compete where applicable for Best of and Breed Class listed in show Regulation 8(a)(i) and / or any Stake Class.

(I) A dog having won eight Challenge Points Under at least five different Judges will be entitled, subject to the approval of the Executive Council, to the prefix
Champion and a Championship Certificate may be issued by the N Z K C provided however that it will be compulsory for the dog concerned to win at least one Challenge Certificate after the age of twelve months before being granted the title of Champion.

(J) After a dog has been awarded eight Challenge points under at least five different Judges, application
for Championship status may be made to the Director/
Secretary of the N Z K C provided the original Challenge Certificates supporting the application are
forwarded with the application for Championship status.

(K) The Executive Council shall have power to with hold Challenge Certificates from any Society committing a breach of the Regulations for show purposes, and/or to impose such other penalty by way
of fine as they deem desirable.
(1) Challenge points will be awarded as follows:
For Challenge either sex one point.
(2) Grand Champion - A dog having won 50 New Zealand Kennel Club Challenge Certificates plus three
Best in Show awards given under three different Judges at "All Breed Championship shows may upon
application to the Director/Secretary of the New Zealand Kennel Club be entitled, subject to the approval of the Executive Council, to the prefix of
Grand Champion ( Gr. Ch. ), provided however that at least one Challenge Certificate was gained after 1st January 1998 and provided also that the original Challenge Certificates supporting the application are
forwarded to the Director/Secretary of the New Zealand Kennel Club.
