This is Saturn, a very pretty girl, as you can see.
Saturn joined our household in a very unique way! My husband, his
mother and father, and myself went out to eat at a local restaurant one
evening. As we were parking the car, I noticed a very cute little
kitten running across the parking lot. I said "Ooo, look at the cute
kitten!" My husband replied "Betty..........", as if to say we have
enough cats in our care as it is. So, I went "awwwww", and inside
to eat we went. After the meal we all trooped out and got into
the car (my father and mother-in-law's car) and returned home. The
next morning, I went out onto the deck to enjoy my morning tea, along with
Blaze and Runt, the two indoor-outdoor cats (as usual!). Suddenly,
I heard a faint "meow". I looked and everyone was accounted for.
The meow was coming from the area of my parents-in-law's car (they live
in an addition to our home). I looked under the car and could not
see anything but the meow was definitely louder. I went inside to
get the keys to the car from my mother-in-law so I could look inside and
under the hood. I popped open the hood, looked inside the engine
compartment and there was the kitten we had seen the night before!!
It had climbed into the engine compartment, perhaps to get warm, and when
we returned to the car when leaving the restaurant, she must have just
hung on for dear life and rode home with us!! With all of the horror
stories about cats getting caught in engines I was immediately concerned
for her condition, but the worst thing that happened was that a couple
of whiskers on one side were singed from the heat; otherwise she was just
fine! Well, I took her to the vet, had her checked out and spayed,
and she has moved right in with the rest of the "family"! So, as
my in-laws have a Saturn car........may we introduce you to....Saturn,
the cat!
