Whitesun's My lil Sunshine
~Sunny~
Breed: Japanese Spitz
DOB: 6 September 1995
This is where it all began.
Sunny was the first dog at WhiteSun. He came to us at 5 months of age, I had lost a young dog to Parvo and didn't want a pup at the time. The breeder had told us she had taken one of her pups back as the owners had found him too busy. Sad enough they had tried to hit it out of him so he wouldn't be one of the easiest dogs she explained. When we looked in on him he was laying in a corner but as soon as he saw us he came up and started jumping up and down like a jojo. He dark brown eyes pleading for a home and I didn't have to think twice!
As soon as we got home we tried to undo the bad training but it took alot of gentle words and patience. In the beginning he didn't bark at all so we wondered if he could. One day when someone rang the doorbell he suddenly barked but as soon as he did he ran back into the room and hid under the table. It had taken nearly a year to help him over his fears but he was terrified of loud noises so New Years Eve wasn't one of his favourite days.
When Sunny was 2 he achieved his final certificate in Obedience. He had really come a long way. I would take him for long bike rides to the river and he would love to run into the water and then come back and roll in the sand. Sadly when he was 3 we moved to Australia and due to the harsh quarantine I couldn't take him allong. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, watch someone else load my dog into thier car and drive off never to see my dog again. Or so I thought.
3 years later we returned to Holland and even though I had another dog I wanted to know how my boy was doing so I called the family who had taken him. To my suprise they told me they had to get rid of him as the new baby was alergic, I went there the very next day. My heart began to pound as I heard him barking but when I saw him it felt as if my knees began to weaken. I crouched down and he looked at me for about 3 seconds and came and laid in front of me on his back waiting for a belly rub. He still remembered! I couldn't help crying, his beautiful white coat had been cut off and he was so fat he could hardly walk. The people had moved house and had left Sunny at the old house with the Fish pond to drink out of and a bucket of food enough for one week. One thing was for sure he was coming home!
