Midhope Moor's Agnes Wickfield

"Meg"

Meg was my second attempt at a show quality cocker. After my first disappointment with a bad bite I decided to try importing a girl from the U.S. out of Ch. Alorah's Artful Dodge. Meg arrived from sunny Louisiana at the age of 10 months to the cold November weather of Edmonton Alberta. She was truly a wonderful dog for me to start with. She was a great lover of people and though she never made it past the the nine of ten required points for a Canadian Champion she always put a smile on the judges' faces with her happy, wagging tail and soft eyes. I was learning the ropes and she was the best to teach me. No matter what I did wrong she always forgave me and carried on so you see she was not at fault for not finishing - it was the handler! She was with me till the age of 12 1/2 years and taught me so much about this wonderful breed as she was a great companion, show dog and mom! Thanks Meg for being such a great and patient teacher!!

Ch.Tamihi's Shady Muffed It

"Muffin"

Here is my new start for the 90's! I took a few years off to get myself on track and spent a lot of time watching and deciding just what it was that I wanted to do and with what. Muffin was the result of some hard searching for just the right boy to breed to her mom, Shady. The litter was great and all 4 were keepers but to be fair I did make a choice and kept 2 girls. Muffin's sister, Minx, is a black as well and did not get her Championship because she prefers the couch to the show ring. Muffin, on the other hand, loves the showring and believes that the world is there for her! She is a mama's girl though and loves to be in the middle of what I am doing. Her show career was pretty short as she finished in 3 weekends in a row. Her smooth, easy movement never ceases to make me stop what I am doing and smile. It is truly her strong point and a wonder to watch. Now she is a really good mom and has produced some nice babies for me to continue on with. In between she has been successful a Junior Handler's dog and then loves to come home to joing me on the chesterfield or in my bed! Such a great companion she is for me.

Ch.Shownell's Flight Of The Phoenix

"Phoenix"

Phoenix was a sweet little thing that came from a wonderful pedigree. She was a fun dog to have around. She loved the show ring and loved to be around people. She would jump into anyone's lap if they looked like they were willing to share a few hugs. She finished quickly, charming spectators and judges alike with her happy personality.

Ch.Tamihi's Ruffian Ryder CD

"Ryder"

Ryder was from my first show breeding and only 1 of 2 puppies in the litter. His sister, Kami, was sold to a show home where she finished her Championship and went on to produce some very nice puppies for her owner. Thank goodness things didn't work out with the first home he had been promised to and I decided to keep him. He had a very easy going temperament and was a very calm boy that trusted everyone, (almost!). He was patient with me as I was still learning how to show and he always did his best. I had fun learning obedience and scent hurdling with him. He loved to jump those hurdles and find that dumbbell! I enjoyed having him in my home but only the very best can stay and only those can produce better than themselves earn that right and so I had to part with him to make room. I was very lucky to find him a wonderful home where he was dearly loved and lived out his days there. It was there that he finished his Companion Dog degree in obedience. What a wonderful life he shared with these people and I will always be grateful to them for sharing him with me by visiting and sending me pictures and reports of what was happening over the years.

"Tanner"

Tanner was a not-so-secret desire fulfilled! I met Tanner at the age of 6 months and fell instantly in love with him. Unfortunately for me he was promised to another person new into cockers. Things didn't work out there and he was returned to one of the breeders. I had left one of my bitch's to be bred to Tanner's sire and Tanner was there when I came to pick her up. It really was funny as she was trying to convince me to take him as he needed lots of TLC and I could hardly wait to take him! Well I ended up with him right then and without even phoning my now ex husband to let him know, I was on my way home. I was excited but nervous as to how to introduce this news. Well you know somehow he noticed that there were 2 sets of eyes looking at him from out of that crate! What could I say?

Tanner had a rough start and after almost 2 years of work he came to trust men and was my closest friend. He loved the show ring and spending time with me. Together we were special and I will always treasure those times. He could just fly around that show ring and gave me the greatest thrill when we took a Group 1st at a local show. He was an extra special boy and I appreciate the trust that was placed in me that day I took him home. I am proud of what we accomplished as he was truly a testament to the excellence of his breeding and we shared a great bond that was forged through love, trust and understanding. The lines that produced him are still a part of Tamihi and are helping us to reach our goal of having healthy, happy cockers that conform in type to the standard of the breed.

Ch.Shacoram's Flying On Wings

"Winger"

Winger was a nice buff cocker spaniel bred by a friend of mine, Terena MacDonald, out of a bitch purchased from me. I was fortunate to have the privilege of showing him for her to his Canadian Championship as well as a few times in the specials ring where he did quite well. He was greatly loved by his family. His career was cut short by an unfortunate incident where the mobile home in which he was living burned to the ground while the owners were away for a few hours. It was indeed a sad occasion for all concerned and one of those things that can just happen to any one of us.

"Yaeger"

As you can see from the pictures, Yaeger had a great show career that started right from puppyhood! He came to me from Marcia Joslyn in Minnesota and was an instant hit in my home. He truly loved being with people and absolutely shone in the show ring. He had a rock hard topline, tailset right off the back and absolutely no bounce as he flowed around the ring. I used to swear that you could put a full cup of tea on his back and you would not spill a drop as he moved. His head was the nicest I had ever owned on a buff and was part of a compact and powerfully built body. He was a hard boy to stack but lucky for me he liked to free bait and so that was the method of choice in the ring. I enjoyed watching his movement so much that I would often forget to watch where I was going when we were in the ring and can remember bouncing off tables, and posts in some of our trips around. I know you are supposed to watch the judge and where you are going but hey, when something looks that nice....! He was really the dog that finally gave me the confidence in my own showing skills and made me feel like a truly competent handler. Thanks Yaeger I wouldn't be where I am now without you making me look good! He loved the ring and there is no way that you couldn't enjoy yourself when you were there with him.
