Hunting

There is nothing a dog enjoys as much as getting back to nature.  The perfect holiday just has to include some hunting and a pack to hunt with.
There is no shortage of game or company at grandpa's house!  Every morning, as soon as we get up all four of us, grandma, grandpa, Kiwi and I go out to hunt for intruders.  Grandpa stands on the front porch and shoots pellets from his pellet gun to scare the starlings out of his cherry trees.

Grandma runs around checking her flower gardens, doing slug patrol.  (She is the REAL killer)

Kiwi and I concentrate on deer and rabbits.  I have never seen a deer in the yard.  They are sneaky creatures.  They come in the night and nibble everything, poop here and there and then run off before all before a dog is ready to start her day.

Rabbits are another matter!  They are as bold as brass.  Kiwi and I find as many as three at a time in the yard.  We are also allowed to go hunting rabbits in Fred's field.....that is the field across the road from us.  Grandpa walks us over there and lets us off leash.  This neighbourhood is hopping with bunnies and they would eat everything growing were it not for natural predators like Kiwi and I.  The problem with Fred's field is that he has big bunches of blackberries and wild roses growing around the trees on his field.  Rabbits have no feelings!  They run in there and hide and what is a dog to do?  So far we have not caught any but we have great fun trying.
