Our Daily Routine

All dogs like a sense of routine.  If you are a new dog owner and want to get your dog on a schedule, this would be a good one to follow.  It is what we do here.

6:00 A.M. The first dog to wake up wags and roots and gets the rest of the pack up and moving.  This is the time for joyous tummy rubs and pats!
6:15 A.M. Once the coffee is on it is time to go out to secure the perimeter of the property.    This is our best hunting time.  Kiwi and I chase bunnies and sniff out the place to see if deer have been in the yard during the night.  Grandpa shoots at the starlings that are after his cherries and grandma runs about in her house coat and gum boots capturing slugs!
6:30 A.M. If Kiwi and I are still feeling frisky we romp around the house and bug grandma and grandpa a lot.  This is the time when we usually get a chewy.   (A pigs ear or a raw hide chew.)  Once we chew that up then we usually have a nap.
7:15-8:00 Time for our morning walk.
8:00 -8:15 Bunny chasing in the field across the road.  (We are allowed off leash at the end of our walk because the chances of successful bunny hunting are not very good when you have a slow heavy person attached to you.)
8:15-8:30 Breakfast
8:30-11:30 Grandma and grandpa work. Kiwi and I guard them.  Also have naps and explore the beach a bit.  We come up and demand pats and romps at any time that we feel bored.
11:30-12:30 Time to make lunch.  We go up to make sure that none of the cheeze gets wasted.  We get select snacks and have a pre-walk nap while they eat.
12:30 1:30 Lunch time walk.  We try to take different routes for each walk of the day.
1:30-4:30 This is the time when we may take special excursions.  If we stay home it may be a cuddly time....(if the weather is cool)  On days like that we all like to read.  Coincidentally there are two dogs and two people so each dog has a lap to herself!  On hot days we loaf outside.  Sleep in the sun till we get too hot, then take a swim in the pond, then back to our sunbathing.  It is a tough life.
4:30-5:30 Time to make dinner and eat it.  Kiwi and I watch this all with great interest and rarely without reward.
5:30-7:00 This is our big walk.  Sometimes it takes even longer than this.
7:00-8:00 Our dinner time...kibble and water....dull but it holds us for the night.
8:00-9:00 Before bedtime nap.
9:00-10:00 Time for bed.  People sometimes like to read in bed.  Kiwi likes to lick her paws for awhile before settling down.  In my case I need time to disipate the energy of the day.  I keep hearing things and running down stairs barking in my most ferocious tones.  No one else gets up so this gets boring.  By ten o'clock  I am too tired to keep it up what with so little support and all,  so I call it a day.
