Horse Breeds

There are many different types of breeds.

One of the most beautiful breeds is the Arabian. A very long time ago Arabians were pure white. Now they come in a lot of colors. Many years ago they were small but now they come in all shapes and sizes.

The Thoroughbred is the fastest horse in the world. They are also the most valuable. A thoroughbred is very big with a fine and silky coat. The fastest usually have straight hind legs.

The Lippizaner is mainly used for shows such as at the Riding School of Vienna. It is white. It grows slowly, but has a very long life.

A Quarterhorse is another racing breed. Quarterhorse racing is less popular than thoroughbred racing. It can run faster than a thoroughbred in races up to a quarter of a mile.

The Standardbred competes in harness racing. An average standardbred harness racer can do a mile in one minute and 55 seconds. Some can go even faster.

The breeds that I have described are only a few of the hundreds of breeds in the world.
