Welcome to Sandi's Angels

Hi. My name is Sandi. This is my "Flights of Fancy" page... dedicated to birds and their fans. I hope you'll find what you are looking for here.

Whether you are a bird lover or an animal lover of any kind, you will find places here that are fun and worth investigating. For tips, hints and help, you'll find some of the best links here too.

Bingo

BINGO - is a Quaker Parrot about 6 years old. He was given to me to look after last New Years. His owner was moving and couldnt take him with him so he came to my door and asked for a favor. So he was adopted in without hesitation. He says "Pretty Boy" and if you dont answer he keeps adding a Pretty til you do. He says other things but I havent made them out yet. He has adjusted to the move quite well. He gives me kisses in the morning and when I go to work. He sits on my shoulder (not at the same time as Rocky though -- havent mastered than one yet). I was hoping they would become friends but at the moment it is still FROM A DISTANCE.

Rocky

ROCKY - is a 4 year old orange winged Amazon Parrot. He is supposed to be a male but I have my doubts. He mimics everything but I cannot get him to talk. When I leave the room he sounds like a long distance telphone call and when I come back in to answer he laughs (ha!!ha!!ha!!). He has a big bird rattle that follows him everywhere. He eats with it, plays with it, sleeps with it and goes nuts when he cant find it. After loosing it once - we now have 4 to make sure we keep the peace! There are not a lot of problems with Rocky being out with the cats. Smokey still figures one of these attempts he will get lucky - the others dont even bother anymore. Rocky has supper with me every nite. If his plate looks different than mine he'll eat off mine and ignore his. He loves salads, (with italian dressing only); lasagna, rice & veggies, tacos, sandwiches, baked potatoes, & fries. For breakfast he has Fruit Loops and on the weekends it is a treat to have toast and peanut butter.

COCKATIELS

FrankiFranki

FRANKI - is an Albino Cockatiel that was adopted about 1 year ago into the family. He is about 3 years old. He sits on my finger now in the cage. I bought a playground for him so hopefully I can start letting him out and onto this playground. They are not as easy to tame when they are older. Franki loves his salads in the morning and his toasts at nite. He also enjoys spagetti (plain) and rice and has just started eating pizza crusts.

Johni Johni2

JOHNI - is a Pied Cockatiel that we just adopted into the family. He is about 6 - 7 years old. I have just put both cockatiels in the same cage. So far it seems to be working but I dont know. I have the other cage sitting right beside them waiting. They seem a little quiter together. Will have to keep my fingers crossed. Johni loves his millet and is just starting to eat salad because he sees Franki doing it. I have only had him for two weeks so he will take a bit of time to come around. He sat on my finger for a few seconds today before it dawned on him what he was doing.

LOVEBIRDS;

Lonesome Lonesome

LONESOME - is a male Peach Face Love Bird that has a club foot so he is not very good on perches. He came into the store without a mate and a handycap so I took him home. He spends a lot of time on the bottom of the cage but I have the perches arranged that he is cradled between two perches when he tries to sit one so at least he doest fall as much. He was down more than he was up at the store. He hops around from perch to perch to get around to the different food dishes. He is a good seed eater but havent got him on anything else. He wont try toast, bread, pizza crust, rice. Guess if I keep trying I will find something. BUDGIES:

GRETA & BLUE:

Blue Lizzy

Both budgies were found and given to me to take home and look after. I thought it would be nice to try a breed them. I found a huge cage, bought a nest, put the male and female in together and waited. It took many months but it finally worked. I had 4 eggs. They took turns sitting on the eggs while the other ate, drank and sat outside the nest for a while. They were doing really good til about the 3rd week. I went in one morning and the female had gone nuts. The eggs were gone and the male was bleeding everywhere. I nursed Blue back to health and he is in a cage in the Living Room with the other birds and Greta was renamed to "Lizzy Borden" and spends her time in the bedroom - she keeps the dogs company while I am at work and they are caged. No more thoughts of breeding for me.
