Region 7 includes:

Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

Illinois

Dawson, Illinois

Gail Dennis:

To get there, you would probably be heading south on 55, take the I-72 exit to Decatur, and 1/2 mile after that exit, there is an exit to Camp Butler Cemetary, turn right at the top of the exit, and drive 6 miles to 8.75E, and turn left. Foxbriar is the 5th place on the left, you can't miss those HUGE RED BARNS. When I get my place going, I'll give you directions there.

Joan drives a Ford F-350 dually, and towes a 6-horse trailer. She designed her drive/barns to accomodate her vehicle, and other vehicles that come in to her shows. Turning around is not a problem.

She has 5 enclosed pastures, 2 are smaller, which would be perfect for the babies. I would be happy to open up my home for anyone needing to get some sleep, eat, shower, whatever. I know that once everyone at our barn learns what I'm up to, they will be more than willing to volunteer help to. I've never met a more wonderful bunch of people.

For breakdowns, my phone # is 217-789-7762 at home, my husband (Damon) is a builder, but he's also a mechanic wiz. If he can't help with any problems, he'll know where to go for help.

We are located in McLean, IL, about 20 minutes south of Bloomington. On the map, we're pretty much smack dab in the middle of the state. To get here, head sraight down I-55, which can be accessed from I-74 or I-80 in Iowa, or by I-39 in Wisconsin.

Just beyond the Bloomington exits, there is the Shirley exit, which takes you to Old Route 66. Take that for 4 miles to Funks Grove, and we're at the end of the Grove Road. About 4 hours from Moline/Davenport, IA (Quad Cities), about 3 hours from

Chicago, and about 2-1/2 hours from St. Louis.

Can you get in there with a semi?

Yes. We are also 10 min from the Truck Stop, which has a repair vehicle, and my hubby is very proficient with motors, esp. diesel.

Do you have a place to put the babies...IF so how many?

I have a 60ft. round pen with two adjoining 12x32' paddocks that have 12x8 lean-tos at the ends. All pasture is currently in hotwire, but we can get cattle panels and put up a temporary fence on a moment's notice.

Can a large 8 horse get in there and turn around.

Yep-plenty of room and plenty of gravel!

Can you do an over night? Showers, breakfast?

Yes. We only have one bathroom, but lots of hot water, sleeping accomodations, and good food!

If they break down.......... would you be willing to hold a flashlight, call AAA? Bring them coffee?

Sure would! Just give us a call!

*Can a large 8 horse get in there and turn around?

Yes, we have a place they can turn around in.

Can you do an over night? Showers, breakfast?

If they can stand my cooking and sleep on a bunkbed or hideabed - yes, that is no problem. My girls can double up for a night

or so.

*If they break down&&&. would you be willing to hold a flashlight, call AAA? Bring them coffee?

All of the above! *S* We also have a 16' open stock trailer with a center divider. If they should get into trouble somewhere

and need to transfer the foals to bring them here until something can be resolved, we would be willing to do that. We could

probably only travel about 200 miles, or 400 round trip to get them, but we could do that much.

Welcome to the network of the Foals mom network. We hope to become the voice in the night that soothes the mind of

Many trips in the future! You&&. as well as our already Welcome, wonderful members are becoming a piece of HISTORY!

Thanks for the welcome! Kim (Alberta) has been a good friend for a couple of years now and she told me about this list.

(Next Mo home......)

You all are still more than welcome to use our farm as a "over night" stop off. We have plenty of room and since we are located in the middle of the country it might just come in handy.

The only drawback is that our 32 acre field is fenced in woven wire with barb around the top. The babies would be hard to catch. smile But I bet they would love it!

The offer still stands, hopefully we can help out your trek with some donations soon!

Thanks again,

Sara

My place would be perfect for overnite stop-overs. My husband, Wayne, and his brother farm 1000 acres of corn and soybeans during the summer months and in winter months, several hundred head of cattle are run on the corn stalks. They come from TX, KS and NE. So we are very accustomed to semi`s in and out of here all the time. We have 4 holding pens(bull proof) with access to water. They are about 25x75 in size. So about room for about15 babies in 4 catch pens. Also have 2 half acre dry lots.(Have to kick out the residing 2 Shires and a couple freezer beefs, to use those two areas however) They would get over it. ( ;-)

There is lots of room for either semi`s or large stock trailers to get in and out of here. Directions to my house are as follows:

From I-80, turn south at exit 272. Go 13 miles to L Rd. There is a large TV tower there on the corner. Turn east, go 3/4 mile to my farm on the north side of the road. Mailbox is well marked.

I can easily provide for the drivers as well. I have an extra bedroom with a bath.

I have a truck and trailer so I can run up to the interstate and help if the need should arise. Hubby is a very good mechanic as well.

I hope I have answered all questions needed. Let me know otherwise.

There is an extra bedroom upstairs in the house if they dont mind bunking next door to two 5 and 7 year old boys.It has its own bathroom and shower.

My personal number is 402-477-5835

Lincoln, Nebraska

The number at the facility is 402-783-0211. THAT is their personal number, and actually is the best way to get ahold of them. The C.A.R.E.S. # is 402-783-0207. If she knows she'll be getting an important call there she's more likely to actually answer it, so a preliminary call, and then a follow-up call later is a good idea.

2 nearest highways :

A. From Interstate 80 (either direction) Take exit 401 and go NORTH on

Hwy 34. You will pass a Kwik Shop with a HUGE American flag on the left

side of the road. The very next right is HWY 79 NORTH -- check your

odometer the moment you turn, as you will drive EXACTLY 7 miles to WEST

DAVY ROAD, and take a left (west). Drive 2 miles exactly, then turn

right. The facility is the second place on the left.

Q. Can you get in there with a semi?

A. Not really. It was a tight squeeze to get a 3-horse slant gooseneck

in, given the configuration of the driveway and gate.

Q. Do you have a place to put the babies?

A. Yes.

Q. IF so how many?

A. Not sure exactly. They have two dry lots, and three large box

stalls (about 10X20). So at least 20?

Q. Can a large 8 horse get in there and turn around.

A. If it can get in, it CAN turn around. A bumper-pull might go in

easier than a gooseneck.

Q. Can you do an over night? Showers, breakfast? If they break down???.

would you be willing to hold a flashlight, call AAA? Bring them coffee?

A. They have an extra bedroom, and I'm sure would be willing to help in

any possible way -- so, yes, yes, and yes. Absolutely. These are

wonderful folks, who will go out of their way to help.

Looks like they likely won't be able to help much, given their

driveway/gate limitations, unless babies were leadable. It's way out in

the country, and a big rig COULD park overnight on the road.

Hope we can be of assistance! Happy Trails!
