SMITHERS
a Cat
and his story
I came to my parents one cold
night in April 1996 in Peoria, ILL. My dad was working security in
the dorms at Bradley University. He heard some meowing down one of
the main floors and found ME! I had wondered in from the cold.
Well, dad scooped me up and dropped me back outside. I stayed around
another 3 HOURS waiting for him to get off work and see me still waiting
at the foot of the door for him. He STILL ignored me and walked over
to my mommy's dorm, by now it was four in the morning and I was getting
tired. I followed him the whole way, talking to him, ya know keeping
him company. Well once mom saw me, she couldn't resist and I found
myself new parents. I first lived in her dorm room (yes it was illegal
and she kept me hidden). I didn't like that AT ALL! Then, I
moved in my dad's fraternity room for one semester. I REALLY liked
that! People were always coming and going and I had lots of good
company. The guys even named me from a TV show they watched every
night- The Simpson's. I guess because I liked all the guys so much.
Wow, did dad have fun finding a place for a litter box in that tiny room.
Then, my mom got her own place and I moved in there. It was HUGE
and I shared it with my mom and some other female creature called JULIE.
That is until the black one joined us.

The Triumphant
Journey
My mom and dad rescued me
from the parking lot of a movie theater in Peoria, IL in July of 1996.
I had been left there tied up in a plastic bag. Both my mom and dad
worked in the movie theater and when another nice couple found me and brought
me in the theatre, mom volunteered to take me!!! Dad was not all
so happy, that is until he saw me. My mom scooped me up and I slept
the first night on their heads! Well, after a nasty visit to someone
called a VETERNARAIN, I went to my new home and found a BIG ORANGE cat
waiting there for me. He didn't like me all so much so I spent a
lot of time under the bed. My mom almost gave me away because I had
lots of accidents on her bed while she was in class. But thank goodness
she didn't! The orange cast and me get along great now and I can't
sleep unless he is next to me. I like watching birds and chasing
rubber bands. Things have been great and then one night my parents
brought home an ugly thing called a DOG! I don't like him and I don't
think I ever will.
