Hello!

My name is Bradley and I will be your tour guide around the world and through the US as we look at the many Vizsla Kennels there are...

Here is how it works:

Arizona
1)  Sleepy Hollow , soon to be Red Rock(from the red rocks of Sedona)
2) Mehagian

Arkansas
1) Prairie
I'm out in midwestern prairie country (though most of it's cropland nowadays), and yes, there is the obvious tie-in with the vizslas' ancestral countryside, but also there is a referent that few people think of ---- I'm Florida-born, and in central Florida there are patches of a lovely , fast-disappearing biome known locally as a "prairie". And it's ONLY SEVEN LETTERS. (Anyone who's ever registered a dog with a lengthy kennel name can understand why I wanted brevity. <G>)

California
1) RiverCity
When I finally decided that I wanted a kennel name I lived in Sacramento California. The Sacramento River flows right through the middle of town and Sacramento was a booming port city for many years, hence it was often called River City, ergo RiverCity Vizsla.
2) Rayshar
comes from my name and my husband's combined. Ray is my husband and my name is Sharon which was shortened to just Shar.
3) Kiralyi
In Hungarian it means "royalty" or "king". I first heard the word 4 years ago during the olympics.
4) Revelation
5) Russet Leather
6) Golden Empire
7) Koppertone
8) Sierra
9) Mahrhill
10) Voros Vadasz
11)  Copperfield

1) Red Sage
Colorado/Wyoming Vizsla Rescue Group
For the red dog that hunts in the sage brush.

Connecticut
1) Alde
That's easy to figure out AL&DE ..... Al & Dee Chuisano
2) Szizlin
3) Red Wings
4) Firepoint
5) Kizmet
6) Heelmark
7) Magyar's
I've been blessed with the most Hungarian last name any one could have. Yes, my real name is MAGYAR.

Florida
1) Kallmee
My first two obedience dogs (cockers) named my kennel. They loved the recall, they would sit at the end of the mat and wiggle their fannies and wag their tails and my friends joked that they were saying "call me! call me!". We always had terrific recalls.
2) Valley Hunter
Originated during my early days of breeding Vizslas while I was living in the Jordan Valley over in Israel. When I moved back to the States I brought the name with me along with 14 Vizslas.( What a plane ride that was !!!! )
3) Dirigo
we fell inlove with the name as it was inscribed on a beautiful 100 year old crest in our mass. farm house-- so then we were Dirigo Farm and now we are Dirigo by the sea--by the way it means "the director" or " I lead" (loose translation) in Latin

Georgia
1) Curile
Named for the 1st vizsla I ever owned. Her name was "Currie Lee" and she was given to me by my room-mate's dad in 1971. My undergraduate roomate was Dr. Linda Collier, DVM,PhD and her family introduced me to the breed in 1968

Hawaii
1) Parosa
I was born Pam Rosa put it together and got Parosa

Illinois
1) SnowRidge
Randy was reading a local history book and discovered we lived in the area that in the early days had been called "the great snow ridge" of Ohio (the high ground east of Cleveland to Erie, PA.) -- because of the lake-effect snows. We found the area lived up to its billing, and thought it would be a good kennel name.
2) J-Paces
J for Johnson, Pa for husband Patrick, ces for Fran(ces) my name

Indiana
1)  Totem
Got the idea for the name while reading the book, Clan of the Cave Bear.
2) Sunnyside
It is the name my grandfather gave to our cabin in Michigan. To me it helps to carry on the heart and soul of my mom & gramps.

Louisiana
1) Egri
The name is from the city Eger where the wine Egri Bikaver is made. Bikaver is a dark red wine and translates to mean Bull's Blood. The "i" at the end of a name means from. So Egri means from Eger.
2) Vermilion
The name was chosen because it means red in french and is the name of the river that runs through Lafayette and it sounds good with vizsla.

Maryland
1) Keystone
We lived in Pennsylvania, the keystone state, it is the stone that holds the arch together and as we wanted to produce dual quality dogs -show and field - and hold the breed's dual qualities together, we felt the name fit.

Michigan
1) Jilar
We like so many other creative people out there (hi Brian and Lynn) combined our names too Jill and Larry Day
2) Valcour
it means "With Heart" and I like the aliteration of capital V's ;o)

5) Auburn
6)  Arsla
The letters represent the first letters of their names Anthony Richard = AR then S=Smid then Lois Ann LA.

New Mexico
1) Poquito
Poquito is Spanish for "Little Bit". When my husband and I were first dating, he used to call me Poquito because of my small size....5 ft. nothing or maybe even less and rather petite.

New York
1) Madkap
I was in the entertainment field at the time we choose the name, and "Madkap" seemed free spirited like our lifestyle. "Ma" is for Maggie, "d" is for dog, "Ka" is for Karen, and "P" is for Paul (only fitting since he was so helpful to us).
2)  Bajos
It's a Hungarian word that means charming, or mischievous depending if punctuation is over the A or not. Somehow both definitions seem to fit Vizslas! It also is conveniently a combination of letters in our names BArbara and JOhn Snyder.
3)  Misty Hills
This name goes back to the early 80's when i had my toy poodles.

Nevada
1) Winsong

North Carolina
1) Midan
( Mi=Mike, dan= Dana)
2)  Stellar
I was first looking for a name for my first Vizsla (through a baby name book) and came across Danika (which according to the book was Slavic, meaning Morning Star). Later when I got my second dog, I again went back to the baby name book and found Tarika (meaning star). After that, Stellar was a natural choice <BG>.

North Dakota
1) Kizmar
It is a name that just popped into my head while driving home from a show.

Ohio
1) Windrunner
We were walking through a little valley in which the wind really picked up the leaves and made such a perfect Autumn picture. The dogs had such a fabulous time doing what they love best: running with the wind that we came up with Windrunner.
2) Bold Venture
The litter we were getting a puppy from were welped on Kentucky Derby Day 1991. We had to pick registered names from the Derby winners. The bitch we purchased from the litter we named Bubbling Over, 1926 winner. Her littermate Toree came to live with us after her first home didn't work out (too many kids, husband travelled alot for job). Her registered name is Bold Venture 1936 winner. That kind of stuck with us, since getting into V's was in essence, a Bold Venture (and one that we will never regret).
3) Linden
Combo of Denny and Linda
4) Jazzan
Comes from my very first V,  Jazz. I got her when she was about 2 and already named but it fit her  perfectly.

Oklahoma
1) Holiday
We named our kennel "Holiday Vizslas" in honor of Doc Holiday(the first V they owned!!)

Oregon
1) Reilloc
Linda Collier and her dad, Joe, use the kennel name "Reilloc", which is Collier spelled backwards
2) Lone Juniper
Comes from the fact that there was a LARGE lone Juniper Tree on his property some 28 years ago when he started in Vs.
3) Sugarmint
I never had a kennel name until the past few years and like many others..the name reflects the foundation stock....Sugarmint....."sugar" for Charlottes Maple Sugar JH dam X AFCH DC AFC Hodags HUnter UDX MH and I don't know what all any more<BG>....of Am/ Intnl' CH Victories Sir Hunter Eli....soon to be SH with Gun Dog placements. "Sugar" is a Cutter grandbabie. And my last Hector who was Ian's Hector Mint...line bred on Barben's Peppermint Pattie JH...although NOT bred by the Zahns. Ergo...Sugarmint!
(Lets not forget wonderful BRADLEY!!!)

Pennsylvania
1) Red Oak
We were removing paint from an old fireplace mantle and on the back it had a label from the makers and part of what was still legible said red oak. We were trying to come up with a kennel name at the time and thought it had a strong solid sound to it.
 2) Kiskadee
Between starting my search in October and getting a puppy in April, my husband and I went to Bermuda. There I kept hearing this bird, but could not catch a glimpse (sort of what was happening with the puppy). When I finally found the bird, it was yellow with black wing tips (close enough to the right color) and was called a Kiskadee. Yellow bird - sandy to red bird dog.
3) Starfire
Penny Carson's first bitch was Ch Firebrand's Ziggy Stardust (Ziggy), around 20 + years ago. This bitch started the Starfire name.
4) Legacy
Took part of the name of my first CH Dog. CH. Legacy in Gold in hopes of leaving some kind of small legacy in the breed.
5) Rheingold
We have always been very fond of opera and, in particular, the Wagnerian Operas. Rheingold is the name of the first of the four Ring Operas, the Ring being overwhelmingly our most widely heard of any of the Wagner operas. We include after the Rheingold prefix the name of a character from one of the operas, such as Rheingold Loge, Rheingold Fricka, Rheingold Freia, Rheingold Sieglinde, Rheingold Donner, etc. At some point in each of our dogs' lives, they are exposed to the complete 20 hours of the operas' music. Ziggy and DJ just recently experienced this music on the ride from Pennsylvania to California for the VCA Nationals. The other dogs in the car heard it for a second time.

South Carolina
1) Ricochet
I named her that after I saw all the Vs at the breeder's house being let out into the backyard. It was an explosion of red dogs flying from one end of the yard to the other... back and forth and back and forth...
2) Bobwyn

Texas
1) Everwhen
No reason - just liked the sound of it.

Virginia
1) Winsum
Winsome according to the dictionery means charming, attractive, amiable, appealing-sounds like a vizsla to me. We picked the English version "Winsum" because it was shorter. We also liked the name because it meant win some, lose some.
2) Abszolut
"ABSZOLUT" is the Hungarian spelling of "absolute," which means "excellent or perfect in quality or nature," "complete."
 3) Melto
Means "worthy" in Hungarian
4) Sansouci
It means without a care, French.

Washington
1) English River
I use "English River" based on  my first show pointer.
2) Vizsta
The Vizsta is pronounced Veezta. I found the name on a map of Hungary over 30 years ago & used it as my kennel name.

Wisconsin
1)  Java
Husbands name is James (Ja) and my name is Valerie (Va). Short, simple and easy to spell
2) Strider

OTHERCOUNTRIES!!!
Australia
1) Dubhruadh
Since my background is very Scottish and my life revolves around (my dogs) and Highland Dancing ,bagpipes etc and all my animals have had weird and wonderful Gaelic names, my list consisted of Gaelic names for companion, hunter, etc. I ended up with Dubhruadh which translated literally means black red/gold or russet.
2) Abbiestar
From a German Shepherd I used to have many years ago. Her name was "Abbie", and she had a very distinctive black "star" marking on her forehead.
3) Yarrowfell
My parents (where I lived when we started breeding) live on a property overlooking a hill called Yarrow Peak thus the "yarrow" bit and "fell" is English for a valley (which is in front of the hill).
4) Hubertus
5) Mirica
I first got this when I only had Labradors, it was my horses name. Then when  I got a V my Vet who is Hungarian told me the Mirica was the Hungarian form of Mary, so guess I was destined to have V's.

UK
1) Gardenway
I ended up with the name of the road that my husband was living in when I met him!! I can't say that it has held me back though!!

Holland
1)  Szeret
This is Hungarian and it means (translated) LOVING. It's the name of our first Vizsla she died when se was eigth.
2) Vermillion

New Zealand
1) Barat
Barat is Hungarian for friend.

Canada
1) Bajnok  Pronounced: 'by-knock'
Meaning: Champion...Living in a French speaking province (Hull, QC) but next to an English speaking province, a Hungarian name seemed a good choice. Besides, the idea of pulling a fast one (well... sort of) on the Canadian Kennel Club appealed to me. They'd have a fit if anyone tried to use Champion as a kennel name.
2) Bajolo
3) Chakra
Means spinning energy sites in body-I thought it would be appropriate for Vizslas

The Netherlands
1) Pancaran's
It's a mixure of Wilmas' lastname and my Indonesian roots.
