I've probably read the passage dozens of times while waiting to see the doctor with Mojo, my fourteen year old diabetic cat. Yesterday, we made a very tough decision to put Mojo to sleep. A combination of diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and liver problems pr mpted this decision. We just didn't think his frail body could handle any aggressive treatment. Kinky, I just wanted to tell you that the very first time I heard you was around 15 years ago on my first weekend with my brothers and a few friends on the opening weekend of trout fishing. we all were sitting around the fire embellishing in some good grain nd some excellent herb when all of a sudden Rapid city came over the boom box. I am a behavior counselor/obedience trainer for the Humane Society/SPCA of Austin & Travis County. We are a private, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. We are set up to adopt out animals fairly quickly, but sometimes, we have a dog or two that sit with us for many months. The type of enviornment that we have is not suited for that and we hate to see the dogs get frustrated being kenneled for so long. What I was wondering is if you have ever considered working with another shelter (i.e. our shelter) in "trading" a dog. If we have a dog that is not coping well here but would be perfectly happy living in a sanctuary with other dogs, would you be willing to take it and we could take one of yours to put up for adoption? I would love to hear from you. We have 2 dogs right now that we love dearly but we are very concerned about. They are sweet natured dogs that love other dogs and have had training. They are not at all aggressive but keep getting overlooked no matter wh t we do. They are getting very frustrated with their kenneled life here and we hate to see them this way. I have 2 dogs, 4 cats, a horse and a donkey, all of whom were strays or were about to lose their homes when I got them. If I could I would adopt every homeless animal out there. My book group decide to read Road Kill for its next monthly meeting. Our interest began when two of our members heard an interview that you did on our public radio station, KPBS. Those lucky plectrums have all ready had a profound effect on peoples lives. A 75 year old friend received a prescription for Viagra on the same day he received a plectrum from you. Fortunately on the day he was being hauled off to a maximum security prison, it was located during the strip search. For 15 years or more he's been working on a song entitled "Watch Out, There's An Asteroid Headin For Uranus". Now that he's found his plectrum again, he feels he can put this song to a timely end. Kinky, thanks for the kindness to my son Gustavo at the Mystery Bookstore in Dallas. He's still got his Kinky Plecstrum! I cherish the autographed books. Armadillos and Old Lace possibly my favorite because of the camp back-story. Reminds me of National F deration of Temple Youth camps of my childhood. My dad is a retired Cantor in Tulsa and first spun the vinyl 'Ridem Jew-Boy' for me. The Caine's Ballroom in Tulsa has a metal urinal dating back to when Bob Wills was King. I believe this urinal is tuned in perfect thirds and may have three octaves. On a cold snowy night with a Blue Norther blowin' in many a line of men has stood over that urinal making it sing. Surely the ghost of Bob Wills could be seen rising in the steam. Thought you might appreciate this strange piece of nostalgia. Wasn't is the Kinster who buried his cat, one from an earlier book, wrapped up in his favorite sweater, with a short afterward in the book about it? I recently 'laid to rest' a beloved tabby, we'd brought to Texas from Hawaii. He was wrapped in a favorite valore, with can of tuna, and candle we'd kept burning during his final hours at home. He now resides in the rose garden he loved so much, where he kept watch over the house from any possible attack from field rodents. I know he is at peace now.

I finished Blast from the Past last weekend and enjoyed it very much, although the Love Song of J. Edgar Hoover is still my favorite. I was surprised to learn that Kinky once lived on King Street in Chappaqua which is a few blocks from where this is being written. I wonder if Kinky is arare that Scarlet Rivera who played electric violin for Bob Dylan once lived near King Street in Chappaqua.
