Baguio City

Located approximately 250kms north of Manila and sprawled on a flattened peak of the Benguet mountains, 5,000ft. above sea level, Baguio has always been a favorite tourist, convention, and vacation center. It is 6hrs by car from Manila (via Conception) and 45min. by plane. From the hot lowlands, the traveller is transported to a region of cool temperature climate, of crisp and balmy air of pine and resin scent. The mountain city is the summer capital of the Philippines.

Baguio has a land area of 22.2sq.miles, bounded by Benguet's municipality of La Trinidad on the north, Itogon on the east and Tuba on the south and west. But one rarely refers to Baguio's territorial markers; though moderatel in area, its confines go beyond city limits. One look ahead and farther on to the country sides of Benguet Province that envelope the city into the mountain layers with which Benguet Province itself is encompassed - the rest of La Montanosa as the Spaniards used to call the Northern Highlands.

The City has a total household population (bonifide residents only) or around 200,000 (as of 1997) and brisk population growth of 3.7% per annum. The City porper is centered around the market area and Burnham Park, while the business sector is nestled with rich, lush, vegetation, strategic location, and a very invigorating climate.
