San Pablo
City, popularly known as the "City of Seven Lakes" is located 87 kilometers south of manila. It was formerly called Sampaloc, a big flourishing bario of the municipality of Bay in the province of Laguna. Not long after the Spaniards arrived in 1647, the Agustinian Fathers converted the barrio into a town and named it San Pablo, after St. Paul, the first hermit. On March, 1941, the town was converted into a chartered city
North of the city is Sampaloc lake, the biggest among the seven lakes. The lake was believed to be the crater of an extinct volcano. That is why its perimeter is higher than the rest of the city proper.
