Waterlily - the queen of pond plants

This is Chromatella, a hardy lily which prefers a depth of 4-6' feet. It has a spread of 4 feet wide.

Water lettuce (pistia stratiotes)- Felted lettuce type leaves float on the surface. Feathery roots below provide a haven for spawning fish. Not frost hardy.

 

Frog-bit (hydrocharis morsus-ranae)- Pairs of leaves
(1 in.) give forth trifoil flowers. Overwinter buds indoors.

 

Parrot's Feather (myriophyllum proserpinacoides) Sprawling stems float on the water and rise 6 in. above.

Water Buttercup (ranunculus aquatilis)- Clover-shaped leaves float on the water's surface.
