Welcome to the

Canine House

Home of Our Dogs

Shortly before we moved into our house, we decided it was time to get a dog. We settled on a black lab mix puppy from the humane society. We brought him home and named him Smokey. Smokey was a wonderful dog. He played with the kids, especially Nicole who was 3 when we moved into the house. Tammy bought him a large rubber ring and Smokey and Nicole could be seen running back and forth from the front door to the back door with each holding the ring. When she was tired, Nicole would sit down and Smokey would pull her around with the ring. Unfortuneately, Smokey bit Nicole on the face one evening as Tammy and I were putting the week's groceries away. So he was picked up by Animal Control and not heard of since.
Shortly before the biting incident, one of Tammy's friends Husky had puppies and Tammy brought Shadow home. She is a Shepard/Husky mix. As a puppy, Shadow was very destructive. She chewed up shoes, underwear, and used Klenex from the trash cans. She chewed wood as well, causing me to rebuild the backyard gate three times and rebuild the garden fence twice. She loves cat food and until Tammy moved the cat's dishes to the top of the dryer, Shadow regularly cleaned out the cat dishes.
She also loves people food and it is not unusual to return home from a day away from the house to find that she has taken a box of food to our bed and eaten it. Jars of peanut butter disappear the same way.
Taylor joined our household when his previous master could no longer care for him and his mother. Tammy agreed to take Taylor, a poodle/chihuahua mix (the chihuahua part seems to have been lost along the way somewhere), into our household. Taylor barks if the cats next door sneeze and hides most of the day under couches or tables.
