Welcome to the

Feline House

Home of Our Cats

After Ricci turned two, we decided to add to our household by adopting a kitten. So Tammy and I took Ricci and Billy to the Animal Shelter to look for a suitable kitten. (Nicole was away at a friends house.) There were a dozen or so kittens in the kitten room and as we wandered around, the kids began petting and picking the kittens up. Tammy found one she liked, but when Ricci walked up to it, the kitten hissed and spit at her. Billy found a scrawny black one and was petting and holding it. Ricci picked it up after he put it down and the kitten just relaxed and lay there on her shoulder. We decided that was the kitten for us.
Lucifer has become our kitten with personality. He plays house with the girls. And is frequently found wearing dresses or riding in dolly strollers.
A couple years later, during one of the company downsizings, we inherited a beautiful siamese female named Cleo. Her master was returning to his father's house in another town and the father was allergic to cats, so she joined our household. Cleo was shy and skittish in the beginning, preferring to hide under couches and beds. She eventually came out of her shell and would frequently come out and visit. She and Lucifer became fast friends.
This past summer, she developped a tumor under her tongue and had to be put to sleep. We still miss her quiet ways.
A few years later, Nicole decided that she wanted a pet. We had two cats and two dogs at the time and she decided that she was the only one without a pet. So off to the shelter she and Tammy went. Nicole chose a black and white female. A week later Peppy contracted a bug and had to be put down. We almost lost the other two cats as well, but they recovered.
After the cats recovered, Tammy and Nicole were back at the animal shelter and a scrawny tabby kept meowing at Nicole and trying to grab her with his paw, so Nicole brought him home.
Butterscotch has an annoyingly loud meow and loves to go outside. In fact he is like a little kid in and out many times a day!
Last spring, the girls and Tammy decided that we needed to have a kitten around the house again. And as luck would have it, one of the neighbors' cats was having kittens. So quicker that I could have imagined, one of the kittens was quickly brought in to our zoo.
Phoebe is still at that playful stage and constantly annoys her aging housemates.
