VALUE OF A FRIEND ___________________________ We live in a time of posessions and greed. while really a true friend is our best need. Burdens upon burdens and no one who cares And the rich in their mansion buying up shares. Well I'll tell you a story it happened in the past Tis a memory that's precious that I hold fast. T'was back in old school days, at the time of our lunch. "Hey my friend and I might trade", I had this hunch. "I don't care for this mince meat pie" said my friend Fred "Could we make us a trade?" and you know so we did Well I gave him an orange I think for his trouble. To be honest I received far more than double. I found out later Fred liked that pie beyond measure But trading it with me, to him it was his pleasure. Time and time again there's no one like my friend Fred. Some times I think I hear Fred's laugh, I can't miss. Then I turn around, and there stands his son Chris. There's one thing I'll gladly admit The friendship we had I'll never forget. Money buys gifts and all sorts of that trend. But it doesn't compare, with the love of a friend. FRED and i grew up together out on the 8th con. We went to school together, we were there for each other. I was his best man at his wedding; at that time during that day he introduced me to different folk in such manner. "This is my very best friend Stan" Kinda made my day in a special way it did. I still miss him a lot some days. He was worth every tear that was shed, he was a very good friend. My parents spoke highly of him along with the neighbours. This poem is in his memory By the way the part about mince meat pie is all true I found out from his mom how he injoyed mince meat pie.
