Dear Hiring Manager,

I submit my application for an Engineering or Computing position in your company.

My engineering experience shows that I have a broad engineering background having worked on various types of communication equipment both in the field and in the office.  I specialized in the Network Management area and was on a team that provided technical support to the Network Operation Center. Monitoring the network elements of various systems have given me knowledge of the system themselves which include Radio, Switching and Transport. Standardization of hardware used at the remote sites to monitor these systems was also part of my responsibilities.

My computer experience is just as extensive. On the hardware side, I have worked on standalone computers, computers connected to LANs and workstations connected to Mainframes.  On the software side, in addition to using all Microsoft Office products as a tool in personal computers, I have also programmed in Fortran, Mark IV and Focus on Mainframes.  To keep up with the latest technology, I have taken Internet courses and HTML programming.

Expertise in many areas have given me the opportunity to instruct others in both Engineering and Computer systems and setting up standards and procedures. Outside of my profession, I have taught snowboarding at Whistler and windsurfing at the Jericho Sailing Center.

My career has been a continuous learning experience keeping up with technology and facing new challenges. In 1992 I completed a Telecommunication Engineering Certificate program offered by Simon Fraser University in conjunction with BC Tel and am current with the latest technology in the industry including Fiber Optics, Mobile Communications, Voice and Data Networks, Local Area Networks, Video Networks, Internet, Intranet and Extranets.
