As some of you may be aware, The Donnas are an all girl all American band based in Palo Alto conveying a sense of melodic punk rock. They are adamant that they only play rock and do not want to fit into any music genres. Here is a profile of the group from my perspective.
Formerly known as the Electrocutes and Rageddy Anne they formed while still enrolled in high school and have done many shows at various high schools not to mention opening some fairly big acts. Much of their music is self written, although they do have a collection of covers, some of which they have written the lyrics of their own.
THE LINEUP...
Donna R
Donna R, aka Allison is the guitarist of the band. Her main influence seems to be stemmed from guitarists of the Glam Metal era, from likes of POISON's C.C. Deville and Motley Crue's Mick Mars to rockasaurs like Alice Cooper
Donna C
Donna C, aka Torry is the Drummer. She started in about 6th grade or something. Her influences include Lars Urlich Metallica (of course!) and REM and XTC
Donna A
Donna A, aka Brett is the Vocalist. Her influences are Faith No More and Shonen Knife. Also, all girl bands like L7. Brett has been known to have continually changing hair colour - no one knows exactly what colour her hair is.
Donna F
Donna F, aka Maya is the Bassist. Music from R.E.M. and XTC initially inspired her and Allison to start playing.
