October 1997 saw the Promise Keepers, an evangelical mens Christian ministry hold what was called "Stand In The Gap."  Somewhere near one million men  from all over the Unitied States conviened upon Washington, D.C.   All united, with one purpose, to repent for the failings of Christian men, individually and collectivelly.

From my vantage point behind the lens it was a truly facsinating event.  For as far as the eye could see,  from the steps of the Capital Building  down the Mall, around the Reflecting Pool, to the Steps of the Lincoln Memorial, a mass of humanity.   Not one curse word,  alcohol or lewd talk was seen or heard.

Have the Promise Keepers made an impact on society since this event.  Well, the group is struggling finacially, but that was due to going to a faith based giving system.  No more registration fees, only "gifts."

For all the hoopla over the past years and the cautionary groups, I haven't seen any of the "reverse"  effects on the women of this nation, as was predictied by  N.O.W or other simular groups.  No, if any effect is evident you will have to ask someone who attended. I heard all kinds of news of "miraclious" relational things, but nothing on the scale which would make the nightly news.  It would have to have been on the individual level.

I hope you enjoy this small photo-documentary.  Your comments are welcome.  Thank You for showing interest.
