8/8-- The Blue Jays have sent right-handed pitcher Pete Munro to the Texas Rangers on a waiver claim to complete the deal for outfielder Dave Martinez. Munro, 6-2 and 210 pounds, posted a 1-1 record with a 5.96 earned-run average in nine games for Toronto this season, including three starts. In 10 starts with the Syracuse SkyChiefs of the International League, the 25-year-old was 4-3 with a 2.48 ERA
8/7-- The Toronto Blue Jays announced today that they have shipped outfielder Rob Ducey back to the Philadelphia Phillies to complete a trade made yesterday for second baseman Mickey Morandini. Ducey, 35, played in just five games for Toronto, hitting .154 with one RBI. He was acquired from Philadelphia on July 27 for minor league RHP John Sneed
8/6-- Jays acquired second baseman Mickey Morandini from the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named. Morandini, 34, has appeared in 91 games with the Phillies this season and is hitting .252 with 13 doubles, three triples and 22 RBI. The 5-11, 176lb. left-handed hitter has a career average of .268 with 32 home runs and 344 RBI over 11 seasons; designated pitcher Peter Munro for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
8/5-- Blue Jays acquired outfielder Dave Martinez from the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later. Martinez, 35, is hitting .269 with two home runs and 12 RBI in 38 games since being acquired by Texas from the Chicago Cubs on June 9. The left-handed batter started the season with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, hitting .260 with one homer and 12 RBI in 29 games. He was traded to the Chicago Cubs on May 12 in exchange for current Jays pitcher Mark Guthrie. With the Cubs he hit .185 with one RBI; To make room on the 25-man roster the Blue Jays have designated OF Rob Ducey for assignment.
8/4-- Optioned pitcher Roy Halladay to Syracuse of the International League (AAA); designated outfielder Rob Ducey for assignment.
7/31--The Phillies acquired right-hander John Sneed from the Blue Jays on Monday to finish last week's trade that sent Canadian outfielder Rob Ducey to Toronto. Going into the 2000 season, Sneed had a 36-6 record and a 2.81 ERA for three minor-league seasons. He struck out 460 batters and gave up 305 hits in 385 innings.
7/31--Toronto acquired veteran starter Steve Trachsel and reliever Mark Guthrie from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays; for exchange of prospect Brent Abernathy, and another minor-leaguer to be named later. Trachsel, had a 6-10 record, with a 4.58 ERA in 23 starts for Tampa Bay. Guthrie, a left-hander, was 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 34 games for the Devil Rays. Gord Ash said, "Both of these pitchers are well-seasoned, very experienced guys."
7/27--Toronto placed outfielder Raul Mondesi on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 22, with a sore right elbow.
7/26--Toronto recieves outfielder Rob Ducey to the for a player to be named; designated pitcher Bryan Ward for assignment.
7/24--Toronto names Dave Stewart the new pitching coach; re-assigned pitching coach Rick Langford to Syracuse of the International League (AAA).
7/22--Toronto activates shortstop Alex Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list; optioned pitchers Mike DeWitt and Leo Estrella to Syracuse of the International League (AAA).
7/19--Toronto Acquired pitcher Esteban Loaiza from the Texas Rangers for pitcher Darwin Cubillan and infielder Mike Young.
7/18--Toronto recalled pitcher Leo Estrella from Syracuse; Optioned pitcher Pasqual Coco to Syracuse of the International League (AAA).
7/17--Toronto placed shortstop Alex Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 7, with a slight groin pull; recalled pitcher Pasqual Coco from Tennessee of the Southern League (AA).
7/4--Toronto activated catcher Darrin Fletcher from the 15-day disabled list; designated catcher Charlie Greene for assignment.
