Equipment for Community Health Centre

The former Keperra Hospital has been redesigned into the North West Community
Health Centre, NWCHC, providing a range of services for people in the north west suburbs of Brisbane.  The services include adult and child community health, child development unit, child and youth mental health, women’s health and breast screening, adult mental Health, sexual health and independent self-care renal haemodialysis. The centre is located at 59 Corrigan St, Keperra and is under Queensland Health.

Several members of GVK Lions attended the opening of the Health Centre and were impressed by the services to be offered to the local community.
Members of the Health Centre committee approached GVK Lions with a request for
Assistance with equipment for  patients while on dialysis treatment.
Patients on dialysis usually undertake 20 hours of  treatment per week – a long time
to sit around.  To ‘lighten the load’ Golden Valley Keperra Lions recently donated funds
for CDs, DVDs, headphones and book/magazine library.

Manager of the NWCH Centre, Ms Penny Ray, said she was delighted to accept the donation from GVK Lions and was keen to promote the work of the Centre through  Community groups like Lions.
For more information about NWCHC telephone 3335 8888.
