artist's statement....

I believe that art should investigate human constructs and communicate concerns through a relevant medium (whichever it may be). It is difficult to produce new or unique concrete ideas, not only due to popular culture inundating us, but also in respect to art history. I find personal satisfaction in my effort to create something new, but I do not feel like I necessarily owe myself such a petty, self-serving pleasure. As an American artist I haven't really felt much pain or isolation the "struggle of an artist", if you will. I feel that it is my duty as an artist to communicate to others the philosophical ideas that I have accepted.

My entrance to graduate school would help to mature my communicative skill, in hope of helping others in the future. Visual arts have had a lasting effect in my life. Therefore, I would like to influence others in a positive and direct way through the realm of painting. Art has had a long tradition of social movement, and I will strive to keep my own contribution to this mass evocative and uncommon, while being conscious of the guidance and processes that currently exist and have previously existed.
