JOHN DENVER
What can be said about John Denver that hasn't already been said? The world lost a wonderful person - singer, songwriter, humanitarian, environmentalist - when his plane went down off the coast of Monterey Bay in California that tragic day - October 12, 1997.
I have followed John most of my whole adult life. I have always objected to being classified as a fan. I think of people who want to stalk the singer instead of follow his causes and such. I would rather be called a FRIEND or a sister of John's. Don't get me wrong, I loved going to all 22 concerts that I went to and feel blessed to have gone. But also I really listened to what he had to say......he spoke to me in ways that only JD family could relate. My favorite song is My Sweet Lady, followed closely by Four Strong Winds and Yellowstone, Coming Home. I finally got to meet him in 1989, thanks to some very special friends. These pictures are from that meeting which was at the Higher Ground Lecture in Chicago.
