Cadette Troop 40

We're finally Cadette Troop 40 of the Appalachian Girl Scout Council! We held our Silver Key bridging ceremony on Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Bays Mountain Park following our Cinco de Mayo family picnic.

After working hard all spring, 9 of us Juniors bridged at the ceremony, with one Cadette welcoming us to the new level. Our families watched as we took this big step....

Service Unit 5's daycamp, Wet 'n' Wild, was held the third week of July, 2000. Only 2 of our troop attended, but they earned their Water Sports IPP and had loads of fun, even in the rain....

We are having a hard time finding a meeting place and time, since we go to 2 different schools and are involved in sports, band, dance, and all sorts of other things...but we've managed to meet at least twice a month. We attended the Community Treelighting ceremony at Christmas, we've delivered nursing home goodies, we collected hats to donate to a kids' cancer treatment center, and 2 of us have earned our Program Aide pin so we can help work with daycamp in July.

We finally found a meeting place! The Boys/Girls Club in the community room. We've varied our meeting times, but at least we've found a "home" for now.

Service Unit 5's daycamp, Creek Stompin', Water Splashin' Fun in 2001, was held the fourth week of July at Sycamore Shoals State Park. Two of our girls served as Program Aides for the week, and 2 others attended the Cadette portion of the program. All four received their Water Drop patch, sponsored by the US EPA.
