BEAUTIFUL CARTER COUNTY, TENNESSEE...

Come see where we live by viewing these photographs and then visiting the links to nearby attractions!!!!

Downtown Elizabethton

Built in 1882 with heavy oak planks, hand-forged nails, and threaded spikes, the Doe River Covered Bridge spans 134 feet across the river. It was built at a cost of three thousand dollars. This clapboard structure is still used today for vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

This is the Courthouse and Veterans Monument, also downtown.

This is the Blue Hole, a local swimming spot at the base of Holston Mountain. The water is always FREEZING!!!

This is beautiful Watauga Lake. Its waters are held back by Wilbur Dam, a TVA project. Watauga Lake is popular with sailboaters, fishermen, and water skiers.

This is also Watauga Lake.

The following two photos are of Roan Mountain State Park in quite different seasons....Roan Mountain, a 6,285-foot peak, is popular with cross country skiers in winter and hikers and picnickers in summer. In June, the Catawba rhododendron bloom, attracting sightseers from all over the world. The Appalachian Trail crosses the Roan highlands.
