Here Are the Teletubbies!!

While this program is offered by the BBC for children, I find that it is also very enjoyable for those of us adults who are learning to relax and take life a LIT-tle less seriously.

Sun Baby
This is the baby sun. She rises at the beginning of each show, and sets at the end. She beams down at the tubbies throughout the show, and smiles, giggles, and screams when she enjoys something they do.

Invisible man Dipsy dancing

This is Dipsy, the second eldest tubby. He thinks of himself as a John Travolta-style dancer, and he uses his dancing movements to warm up for everything he does. His favorite toy is his very large hat which is covered with white and black spots. (It has no top on it, so the antenna on top of his head can stick out freely.)

This is Laa-Laa. She is the happiest and most consistently cheerful tubby. Here she is getting ready to dance in her tubby ‘kirt. Her favorite toy is her big orange ball, which she rolls and throws everywhere. She has a song, “la, lee-la, lee-la, la.....” that she sings to keep herself company. She is very charming. If you click on this picture, you can hear Laa-Laa bouncing her big yellow ball and singing to herself.

Po with flag This is Po, the youngest Tubby. Her favorite toy is a scooter (“cootah”) which she rides all over the hillsides (and sometimes in the house) while she sings her cootah song. She is the only billingual tubby, and she counts in Cantonese, as well as singing "Padee, Padee" (hurry, hurry) when she is running or riding her cootah. If you click on this picture, you can hear her riding on her cootah and singing.

This is Tinky Winky. He is the eldest of the four Teletubbies. Here he is serving himself some tubby custard for breakfast, in the house. His favorite toy is a red handbag like one Margaret Thatcher might carry. Tinky serving custard
