LA PALMA

San Miquel de La Palma is part or the Canary islands (Spain), located in the Atlantic Ocean (28.4 north and 14.1 west), about 200 miles away of the northwest African coast.
The island has a size of about 284 sqm and is triangle shaped with a maximum length of 29 miles and a maximum width of about 18 miles.
High mountains (Roque de los Muchachos, 7950 feet), steep coast areas with small black beaches and the magnificent Caldera de Taburiente (5.6 miles diameter) dominate La Palma

The subtropical climate of La Palma is strongly influenced by the northeast trade winds. Mild winters with sometimes heavely rainfalls and tolerable temperatures in the always dry summers are characteristic.
