Taking Action

Communities Across The Nation Are Reinventing Themselves

It can happen in your community too.  Imagine exploring your town, and seeing it with new eyse.  Think of the possibilities of turning:

abandoned rail corridors into greenways with walking paths, flowers, and trees.
disconnected neighborhoods into revitalized community places with benches, parks, and gardens.
neglected rivers and streams into community assets for boating, fishing, or quiet reflection.
little known historical sites into attractive centers for recreation with bisplays, tours, and events.

We Tailor our Assistance To Meet The Needs Of Your Project

We can help you to
build and strengthen partnerships
share ideas on getting funding

Our approach is to work directly with your community.  We can assist for periods ranging from short consultations to long term involvement.  With support from the Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program, communities attract both funding and volunteers to make their projects a reality.

Our Program Works For You

The Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program is an outreach program of the National Park Service.  Our staff work is Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.  Nine other offices provide services nationwide.  The program helps communities turn their ideas into results.  We lend our skills in planning, design, and organizing to your community, and help your group achieve it's goals.  We work in partnership with landowners, local business owners, agencies, and private groups.  Our staff will help you define goals, resolve issues, and reach agreement on how important areas should be improved and protected.
