Basic Bible Beliefs

Who God Is
1. We believe in the use and importance of God's name: Jehovah/Yahweh/the shortened version, "Jah". (Exodus 6:3; 15:2; Psalm 83:18; 68:4; Revelation 19:1) We believe God is "one god". We believe God is NOT an impersonal force or the cosmos/part of the universe.

Who Jesus Christ Is
2. We believe that Jesus Christ was more than just a good teacher and that he was God's "only begotten Son", the first born of creation and thus was divine in nature and the he is our savior, redeemer and mediator, but not God himself. (Matthew 3:16, 17; John 14:28)

Holy Spirit
3. We believe that Holy Spirit is God's active force and not a third person of a trinity, nor even a person at all. (James 2:26; Job 27:3)

Death
4. We believe that death is a result of inheritance of sin from Adam and Eve. (Romans 5:12; 6:23)

Soul
5. We believe at death the soul itself dies. Humans do not have souls, rather they are souls. The dead are conscious of nothing. We reject the immortal soul concept. (Ezekiel 18:4; Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10)

Hell
6. We reject the concept of a fiery place of eternal torment, that there is no such place and hell literally means "humankind's common grave". (Job 14:3; Revelation 20:13, 14)

The Resurrection
7. We believe resurrection is the hope for the dead and that one day death due to Adamic sin will be no more. (1 Corinthians 15:20-22; John 5:28, 29; 11:26, 38-44; Mark 5:35-42)

The Good News of the Gospel
8. We believe in spreading the hope of the gospel of the bright future God has promised. We believe in doing this in a culturally relevant way, to thus become all things to all people so that we may reach some. (1 Corinthians 9:22; Mark 5:19; Matthew 24:14)

The Reason Why Bad Things Happen
9. We believe the answer to why bad things happen to good people is because the Bible tells us that "the Devil has been cast down to the earth, knowing he has a short time" Thus, he has a major influence over this day and age that we are presently in. Yet, one day soon God will destroy the present wicked system of things (not the literal and physical earth!). (Ecclesiastes 9:11; John 12:13; 1 John 5:19)

The Kingdom of God
10.
(A) What God's Kingdom Is
We believe that God's kingdom goes far beyond and above simply just being a feeling of good will toward all. We believe God's kingdom is an actual invisible government in heaven and that under God's son, Jesus Christ, it will replace ALL of humankind's earthly governments and that God's kingdom will rule over the earth. (Isaiah 9:6, 7; Daniel 7:13, 14; Matthew 6:1)

(B) Where God's Kingdom Is
We believe as stated above that God's kingdom is an "invisible" government "in heaven" and NOT that God's kingdom is manifested through any earthly political or religious organization.

(C) Who is the Mediator of God's Kingdom?
We do not believe that any earthly being nor any assembled body of persons neither political or religious organizations are a mediator between humankind and God, because the Bible makes it clear that between humankind and Jehovah God, there is only ONE leader, Jesus Christ. (Matthew 23:8, 10)

Eternal Life Hope...On Earth
11. We believe the Bible tells that the great majority of Christians look forward to God's promise of eternal life upon the restored and renewed earth. (Matthew 5:5; 6:9; Psalm 36:5, 6; 37:29; Isaiah 35:1-10)

Who Goes to heaven
12. We believe the Bible tells that only a very limited number (144,000) goes to heaven such as Christ's apostles. (Luke 12:32; Revelation 14:1-3; 5:9; 10:20)
