"Love thy neighbor as thyself."
-- Jesus Christ

I'm opposed to morals. The very word "morals" is nothing but a cover identity for hate-mongering bigotry. This here ultra-moral funda-demented-alist Righteous Reich (or whatever they call themselves) tells me I gotta hate gay people. I gotta hate people with tattoos. I gotta hate people who drink lotsa booze. I gotta hate fat people. I gotta hate people who ride Harleys. I gotta hate people who wear nose rings. I gotta hate people who dress funny. I gotta hate people who do strange religions. I gotta hate most everybody who's any fun to have fun with, and what's the fun of that? I'm a debaucherous low-life who'd rather follow the advice in the quote at the top of this page. It's lots more fun. Didn't Jesus turn water into wine so that the debaucherous low-lifes at the wedding banquet could have more fun? Or is that the part of the Bible I'm not supposed to believe?

I believe in cultivating the Seven Lively Virtues:
Greed: the desire to have nice stuff, which stimulates productivity and commerce and enriches everybody.
Gluttony: the desire to eat decent food for proper nutrition and enjoyment.
Pride: the recognition that you've done well and the desire to do even better.
Envy: the recognition that somebody else has done better than you and the determination to follow their example.
Lust: the desire to form a relationship that will become a family unit and procreate our species.
Anger: the willingness to take constructive action when you see something wrong.
Sloth: the readiness to take a break when you're tired out so you can refresh yourself for another day.

Some Righteous Reich tyrant back in olden times must've turned these lively virtues into deadly sins to make everybody feel guilty about having these normal feelings so that we'd all feel unworthy and be more willing to submit to tyranny. Well, I don't buy it. And I also don't buy that tired old saw about how they hate the sin but love the sinner. That just means that they hate me but love what they would love to convert me to. So what if I'm never gonna get to Heaven. I'm gonna do my dead-level best to make Hell a fun place when I get there.

"If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have a paradise in a few years." -- Bertrand Russell

Hey folks, I haven't studied Bertrand Russell's philosophy very much, but it sounds like he's worthy of elevation to sainthood. Selfishness is a very good thing. It is a genuine interest in having happiness for yourself, and in order to enhance your own happiness, of course you've gotta share your fun with folks around you. Morality is a very bad thing. It is a pathological obsession with making sure others don't have any more happiness than you're having, and the result will be for nobody to have any happiness at all. I really think Bertrand Russell had something there. If we were all selfish instead of moral, we wouldn't hafta worry about heaven or hell. We'd make our own heaven on earth.

But who needs religion anyhow?
Why be moral at all?
And don't try to be perfect, either!
