The Ballad of the Wandering Cows

In days of yore when knights were a bore,
This marvelous tale the bards do tell.
In a distant land beyond the moor
Two knights in neighboring estates did dwell.

Sir Cuthbert's cows did oft break away
Onto Sir Lotsalance's domain.
They roamed about most every day,
Thus causing the neighbors an awful pain.

They'd drive the cows most every day
Straight back into their proper home.
But no sooner were they put away
Right back over the cows did roam.

Sir Lotsalance had a wondrous dream
For a mighty catapult to fabricate.
The cows could be, by this great scheme,
Launched back into Sir Cuthbert's estate.

So they built the machine, they build it stout,
And examined their workmanship with care.
They tested it well, both inside and out.
It was truly an awesome device so rare.

The cows, upon their very next escape,
Were loaded into the great catapult.
The two knights then together stood agape
At the totally unforeseen result.

The catapult had such power, you see,
That into orbit the cows were hurled.
Sir Cuthbert's cows will always be
Known as the herd shot round the world.

Thanks and a snappy salute to my niece JoyfulBaby for the story line of this ballad.
