A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

                                                                                                                                                        [It's me...]

My name is Scott Hinson, I live in an area of North Carolina known as the Piedmont in a town called High Point. High Point got it's named because it had been the highest point surveyed when a north-south railroad was built in the 1850's...

Apart from learning web design, and the time spent laboring over this website, I enjoy learning about nature.  When I say 'nature', I'm referring to all things not man-made. This includes Geology, Astronomy, and Biology. I get my nature fix by watching the Discovery networks, shows such as Nova and Nature on PBS, and National Geographic Explorer.  I have contributed to The World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy to help those who can't help themselves.  This awareness of nature has since earned me the nickname of "tree-hugger"...

I like listening to almost any kind of music.  I mostly prefer Rock though, because that is what I grew up on.  I listen to everything from Nine Inch Nails, to the Doors, and I've even been known to throw in some Parliament Funkadelic (because they like to funk with your mind!)...

The Second World War also holds a fascination for me.  From Hitler's Blitzkrieg raid on Poland in 1939, to the development of the Manhattan Project. World War II is, in my opinion, undoubtedly the most intriguing event of this century...

My main interest (dare I call it an infatuation) lies, however, in photography.  It is a hobby right now, shooting mostly landscapes and cityscapes.  I prefer shooting black and white rather than color because, although color is necessary for some photographs, I feel it distracts the viewer from the four basic elements important in a photograph: Shape, Pattern, Form, and Texture.  My favorite photograph is by Ansel Adams called  Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico, 1941...
