A very well presented web site. I especially like the palm photos as I am also starting a palm orientated garden on a flat square house block 750 mt square. We won't talk about the Reds or any of the South African Super 12 sides. But perhaps you can help me identify a Palm that was nameless. The person I got it from said it was a Madagascan Palm. Its leaves look like that of a Fishtail but it has many spines on the leaf bases and under the leaves, the spines are a dark brown colour, with the leaves being light green in colour. any ideas? I was thinking of Salacca Edulis, but it may be one of the Caryota. Your garden is starting to take some shape. How are the Pritchardia's doing? Cheers Dennis

Darryl: Nice web site! Know you have put a lot of hard work into your home and grounds...It really looks nice. We live in NW Florida about two blocks from the Gulf of Mexico. Have just gotten into the Plumerias, and would like to do some palms, but our Jan-Feb temps can get down in the low 20s (F) on occasion. Strangely enough, it has been unusually warm for Feb. 80 (F) today. I wonder if any of the Australian Palms would s rvive here? Good luck to you! George

Your photos are great! Thanks much for your efforts. Unfortunately, I am mostly in New Orleans now (actually, a great place to be if you MUST be in the US, but I prefer my adopted home of Belize. Daryl, we are the opposite!!! Looks like your ground is as hard as ours here in the Florida Keys(USA). If it isn't coral rock, it's compacted marl fill. I started a palm collection last year after a lot we own was leveled by hurricane George and I'm following the same approximate time frame as you. I'm jealous of your wonderful rock wall, but not of the work it probably takes to dig it up. Keep up the work!
