Preserving a Place of Prayer

The Petroglyph National Monument continues to be used by the surrounding Pueblo Indians and is a spiritually and culturally important sacred site to native people.

The Petroglyph Monument Protection Coalition is committed to promoting the protection and understanding of the natural, cultural and spiritual values of the Monument. We oppose desecration of this area, which would contribute to cultural and spiritual genocide of indigenous peoples.

At present, our greatest concern is a development project which includes plans for a road through the Monument.

Read the Wilderness Society report declaring the Petroglyph National Monument one of the 15 most endangered wild lands in the country.
