Crab during the molting process
What a rare sight! At first I could not figure
out what I was looking at, until it dawned on
me... this crab was about to start the molting
of its old shell. Minutes later, it was completed
and the very dark (compared to its old shell)
and still soft crab disappeared under a rock
for shelter.

Crab almost at completion of molting.
Big red Sea Urchin
At the waters edge, among
dozens of smaller purple
sea urchins, we found this big
red one.
The picture shows the
underside of it, with the tiny
white dot in the center being
'Aristotle's Lantern'.
Batstar
This seastar was 'sitting'
in one of the many tide-pools
found along the rocky coast of
the preserve.
