November 20  1999.

Dynamite fishermen from the small town of Geratag, Northern Samar, attacked and dynamited a group of Dolphins that had successfully passed through the San Benardino Strait into the Pacific Ocean.
Three Dolphins were injured and two of them bleeding from the ears and mouth and very confused  reached  the beach area of Geratag. (Perhaps to avoid the strong currents in the straits)
One Dolphin beached at the east of the town and the other at the west of the town.
The third Dolphin is assumed to have  regained the Pacific waters but is probably doomed and can be assumed by this time to be lost or dead.
The two Dolphins that reached Geratag beach were caught by the fishermen and killed, cut up and sold as fish steak.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that at least one of the Dolphins killed on Geratag beach had an identification tag possibly with two names and not in English.

November 29 1999.

Dynamite fishing in the immediate area of Dalupiri Island has lately been reduced to a minumum and the only fishermen using dynamite in that area are using "Silencers" which are simply steel bars or heavy rocks attached to the blasting material in order that it may explode deeper and not be heard from the coast. Underwater however these blasts have an increased effect on marine life. The areas mainly concerned are those of,  San Isidro, Victoria, Alegria and Viriato on the Samar mainland and Pilar on San Antonio Island.
All other areas of the Strait continue at the "Usual" rate of explosions per day and in some areas on the Pacific side of the strait blasting has increased.
