INTRODUCTION NOTE: THE EDITOR OF THIS SITE HAS RETIRED, IS TRAVELING AROUND OVER THE COUNTRY, AND DOES NOT HAVE TIME TO KEEP IT UPDATED. SO, FOR ALL PRACTICAL PURPOSES, IT HAS BEEN ABANDONED AND LITTLE BY LITTLE, IT IS BEING DISMANTLED. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THE SITE OVER AND KEEP IT UPDATED, PLEASE SEND EMAIL TO COUNTRY123@HOTMAIL.COM AND HE WILL SEND YOU THE USER ID AND PASSWORD FOR ACCESSING THE FILE MANAGER. FLASH!! .. FLASH!!.. RCHS NOW HAS ANOTHER ALUMNI WEB SITE,"OWL SPIRIT" DEVELOPED BY DIANE MASSEY SECORD ('64). YOU CAN REACH IT AT www.geocities.com/owlspirit1964 GO THERE AND SIGN DIANE'S GUESTBOOK. To mimic the words of the first issue of the Old Owl's Toot in September 1995, time sure flies when your having fun doesn't it? It seems like only a few years ago that we were dragging dusty main in dear old Big Lake, TX., the home of Reagan County High School (RCHS), dreaming our dreams and solving world problems. Although most of the worlds problems are still here and few of our dreams have materialized, many of us find comfort in the memories and reacquaintences of our many friends from RCHS. Such comfort is found in the RCHS "all school reunion" every five years and hopefully such comfort will be found in the spirit of this newsletter. One thing is for certain... old friends and classmates will know that they are thought of often and will never be forgotten. We are very excited about the potential of this website. If RCHS alumni will use it to access other websites and use it for transactions, such as ordering books, CDs, etc. from Amazon.com or flowers for special occasions, the site will earn money each time other sites are accessed from it. For those alumni who are looking for new positions, the site will even receive commissions from HeadHunter.net to help them look for a new job. The commissions from the site can then be used to fund RCHS scholarships and other RCHS alumni endeavors. We have not yet confirmed how funds should be administered, managed, and allocated, but we recommend a 4 to 5 person board who would audit records of account for this site and would coordinate with other alumni to decide on allocation of funds for projects, scholarships, etc. We would appreciate feedback of recommendations as to how this should be done. We will post the feedback at this site and communicate with others via email to eventually arrive at some type of arrangement. In the meantime, this site will be periodically updated with a report on commissions received to date, operating expenses, and balance of commissions in kitty. We will also use this site to link to other sites that we think you may enjoy. One site we recently ran across is accessible from the banner below. If you like good cowboy poetry, guitar playing, or just good ole western fun, go to that site and click around. One poem linked from that site is "Face On The Bar-room Floor" which is a western classic. If you can't find it by clicking around at the banner site, you can find it at the following URL http://www.geocities.com/~cowpokinfun/face.htm
This site belongs to the alumni of RCHS. You tell us how you want it to be managed and developed. Also, if any of you know html coding or have experience in managing a site like this, let us know and we will share our user name and password, so that you can help us develop it. In the interim, the site will be managed and developed by country123 at the email address at bottom of this page or by david.l.stewart@lmco.com. |
