Why is it that Australian Air Services insist that 90% of heavy air traffic use the existing runway when the proposed parallel runway would direct this traffic over an industrial area instead of and in preference to the residential areas now being endangered by this traffic ?

I am totally fed up with the noise from the Jandakot Airport Flights since they decided that they would move the flightpaths in 1996. Now we have had the minimum ceiling reduced from 1500ft to 1000ft because of the changes to the flightpaths from the planes from Perth Airport. (They are now flying over too!) I sympathise with anyone living close to any airport. However I don't live near the airport and furthermore I did not purchase a house under a flightpath in the first place either.Who do these people think they are that can fly their planes for fun anytime they like and irritate so many people in the process.

If you live or work near an airport then expect noise, with progress and an increasing population expect an increase in noise. It is easier for individuals to relocate if they have made a bad decision, Perth airport, like Jandakot, was there before most o the nearby residents.

Hank is now finally on-line. Please also visit our new on-line lobby page http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Jungle/6748/lobby.html which will lead you to web sites and email addresses for everyone to contact and lobby over the Airport Expansion. One area being lobbied at present is the return to the original plan of extending runway 06-24 which the Airport originally preferred, and would result in noise being shared around by using the un-developed north east corridor of the city.

Hanks schokker@mail.smartchat.net.au account might still not be running yet as he has only justed signed up with AAPT and hadn't yet activated his account when I met him yesterday. In the meantime I'm printing out email messages and delivering them by hand.

I live in Queens Park, in particular the worst affected residential area, of the forecast increase in aircraft noise exposure. My family moved here when the airport was at Maylands, and Eat Cannington was all farmland. It's about time we did something as the blue rinse subburbs to our north always seem to be getting a fairer deal in this. I think it's because they are in marginal electorates, whereas we live in a blue collar working class "safe" electorate. But they forget that Swan is as marginal as any other federal electorate now, and every win is vital to win government! The Canning Council seems awfully quite. Why didn't they make any noises when Bayswater Council was in the press? Were they all in it to get Stephen Smith elected in '98? I can only wonder at what I think looks like the lack of action and transparency. Thank you for doing something for us Hank.
