As the Consul General, I am extremely delighted to put our activities through our new web site, "geocities.com/rncgcc/", another Electronic Gateway to the Kingdom of Nepal. The underlined objective of this website is to bring the Kingdom of Nepal at your door steps through dissemination of information you required for planning your visit to the "Land of Amphitheater" either as a tourist or an investor or a businessman. This website, by no means, should be taken as an entirely new initiative, but be taken as another step towards the globalization of Nepalese developmental endeavors.

Though small in shape and size, Nepal has been admired as one of the most beautiful country in the globe by virtue of her unique & disparate topographical features as well as the socio-ethnic diversities and has been acclaimed as a country with full of gifts, ready to offer, to her lovers & admirers, as "the Land of Shangri-La".

Nepalese are proud of having the most glorious towering mountains of the world including highest peak of the world, the Mt. Everest. We are blessed with the glistering rivers, virgin countrysides, amazing lakes, fabulous trekking routes and the greenery of the plains of south, displaying biological entirety. This, the only Hindu Kingdom of the world showing the highest degree of the religious tolerance, is also proud of being the birthplace of the Lord Buddha. The friendly peoples and their ehtno-cultural maze are the forces of pull to the well wishers, either in the form of the tourists or in the form of trade & business partners or the investors, from all over the world. Many government & non government agencies like departments of HMG/Nepal, the international communities, private sectors, airlines, INGOs & NGOs and several individuals have sweated untiringly on promoting Nepal globally by taking various initiatives; as a result of which, Nepal has been identified as the " Land of Paradise for Nature’s Lovers & Adventurists" as well as the "Heaven for the Investors" in the world.

Keeping in views the peoples’ aspiration for the expeditious growth of the country, since mid eighties, particularly after the restoration of multi party polity in the Kingdom, Nepal has been implementing liberal economic policy. As a result, the private sector is treated as the nucleus of the economic well being of the country. Adoption of the balanced foreign policy emphasizing on the strengthening the bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation and also the pro-private sector economic policy has enabled us to reap positive response from our partners of the development, thereby causing the increased influx of assistance into the Kingdom in last decade. The generous support that we received either bilaterally or multilaterally or either at the level of private sectors or at the level of the INGOs & NGOs has encouraged all of us, deeply involved on the task of nation building.

While developing this web site, utmost care has been given to make this user friendly and compact, capable of holding the multi-facet information on our beloved and lovely motherland, the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. In addition to the glimpses of unique natural & cultural heritages of the Kingdom, this web-site shall guide you to identify your business opportunity in the fields of the manufacturing, water resource, tourism and others in Nepal. The entire web-site package has been subtitled into six groups, namely "About the Consulate", "Travel/Tourism", "Treaties & Agreements", "Trade & Investment", "Contacts/Addresses" and the " News and Links". In the section "About the Consulate", information on the Consulate’s functions, two latest issues of the official newsletter, the "Everest Voice" and visa rules & regulation are incorporated. The tourism related information like the information on hotels, tourism sites, and other places of interest have been incorporated on the "Travel/Tourism". The "Trade & Investment" section has included the relevant rules & regulations, information on the projects identified as suitable for foreign investors, overseas trade information, and information on different government agencies dealing with trade & investment promotions. The section on the "Treaties and Agreements" has included the Indo Nepal treaties on Trade and also Transit, the Treaty on the Control of Unauthorized Trade, Indo Nepal Treaty on Power Trade, and other relevant treaties. Besides, the remaining two sections hold some useful general information and addresses in Nepal & Calcutta.

Before concluding, I would like to express my thankful gratitude to Royal Nepalese Embassy, Dhaka for taking pains on designing this website. Many thanks are due to my colleagues in the RNCG for support I received on institution’s development including this one. Since this has been the newest initiative of this Consulate General, scopes are there for further improvement through your suggestions & criticisms. Be assured, your suggestions and criticisms shall definitely find place while updating this web site in future.
