"Humpty" and "Dumpty" are my two White's Tree Frogs. However my first White's, "Gorf", died after I had him for about a month. I acquired him from a pet store. At the time I never took into consideration how many people handle these frogs in pet stores. Every day I'm sure someone was picking him up.

He died rather suddenly. He stopped eating and after about 2 weeks I found him on the bottom of his cage dead. It was sad, and I was skeptical about getting another one for fear of killing that one also. But I don't know what really killed him. It could have been stress from the pet store, or just natural causes.

I had added some plants to his vivarium after a week or so, and later was told that if the plants have pesticides on them it can kill your frog. So, this could have been a factor. Before I got him I read books asked questions and checked out some websites and thought I was knowledgeable enough to get one and be successful. Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't? But in any case let this be a lesson to you. Read up on the type of frog you want to get and take all precautions when creating an environment for him.

After I decided to give it another try I cleaned the tank very well, and all the accessories. I rinsed the soil the plant was growing in, and waited about a month or so to rid the plant of any pesticides it may have had on it. I decided to order Humpty from a breeder online. I am now a little skeptical of pet stores. He got here unharmed and I have had no problems with him so far.

I acquired Dumpty the same way a few months later. Both are doing well and seem to like each other. They sit together on the cork bark and the "rock cliff" I have attached to the side of the tank. So far Dumpty is the only one to make any noise.

One way of sexing them is by their croaking. Usually only mature males will croak. And females tend to be larger. I'm still not sure if mine are male or female Dumpty croaks when picked up, and I'm sure I heard him croaking to the theme song for "As The World Turns"! But he is much larger than Humpty. Who knows? They both have color changes. Humpty tends to stay mostly brown, and Dumpty is usually green with white specks on his back, but occasionally he changes to brown also.

They do have a neighbor in the tank next to them. His name is "Beezles" and he is an Emperor Scorpion.

Soon I will have pictures of them to add to the site.
