5 points if done correctly. You may download and change my example if you wish or set up your own. Name your file period_lastnamefirstinitial and save as .dot or .doc (As an example, Josephine Smith in Period 5 would name her file 5_smithj.dot)

If you use Works or Wordperfect, do not send me an attachment: I can't open it. Set up your document (get a sample copy from me in class), print a copy, and bring it to me at school.

Once per semester - College Fair/Visit:

Maximum of 10 points.

1. Attend a college fair, such as the SBCUSD College Night.

OR

2. Visit a four year university other than Cal State San Bernardino and take its formal tour. These tours are led by students and can give you a feel for what it would like to be a student there with a chance to ask questions of a student and the admissions staff. Some schools just allow you to show up, others require that you register for a tour. Some have Saturday tours (University of Redlands), others don't (UCR). Check the school's website for more information. Other nearby schools include La Sierra, the Claremont Colleges (Scripps, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Pitzer), and Cal State Fullerton.

3. ASK QUESTIONS! Use the prompts below to guide you in what types of questions to ask.

4. Type three responses to any of the following prompts:

• Explain specifically one thing you saw or learned at the fair or on the tour that made you more interested in attending this university.
• Explain specifically one thing you saw or learned at the fair or on the tour that made you less interested in attending this university.
• Explain specifically one thing you learned at the fair or on the tour that you should do to increase your chances of being accepted if you apply at this school.

You can choose any prompt you wish, but you must have three separate answers (in other words, you can totally praise the place, totally trash it, do both - any combination of three responses). The whole thing should fit on one MLA formatted page.

3. Bring evidence of your visit along with your paper to me; a stamped piece of literature from college night, a parking pass from a school - THAT'S IT!
